SPRING LAKE – The Spring Lake baseball team opened its doubleheader against Unity Christian with a 10-7 win on Tuesday.

Both teams were tied at four after four innings, before the Lakers exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

At the mound, Zane Stahl gave up four hits, but struck out three batters in a little more than five innings.

Gabe Trask had four hits, two runs and two RBI, while Maddux Kipling had two hits and two runs. Oliver Smies and Alex Batka each had two runs.

The Lakers made quick work of game two with a 15-0 win in three innings.

Kipling made his first career start at the mound and struck out five batters in a three-inning no-hitter.

Smies had five RBI and two doubles, while Trask made two hits.

Spring Lake (2-0 overall, 2-0 O-K Blue) will be at Hudsonville Unity Christian on Wednesday for a single game.
