LUDINGTON — The Ludington softball team remained winless after dropping a non-conference doubleheader to Onekama at home Thursday, 15-4 and 24-3.

In the first game, Jody Meisenheimer pitched the complete five innings and gave up 11 hits, walked six and struck out four.

Keeley Curtis was 1-for-1 with a double, a run batted in and two runs scored. Madelyn Kenyon was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored and Maddie Enbody had a hit and an RBI.

Kenyon started in the circle in Game 2 and faced four batters in the second inning before being relieved by Meisenheimer.

Meisenheimer pitched 2.1 innings and gave up five hits and five walks while striking out one. Kenyon then returned to the mound to pitch the final 1.2 innings.

In her 2.2 innings, she gave up six hits, 11 walks and struck out four.

Offensively, Kenyon was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Maddie Enbody was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

“We made more plays as the night went on, but we still need to continue to clean things up on defense,” said Orioles coach Sierra Holmes. “In the first game, we gave up 10 runs in the first inning due to errors and plays that weren’t technically errors, but that I think we could have made.

“It was a competitive game after that,” Holmes said. “Onekama challenged us by consistently putting the ball in play. We did start putting the ball in play more tonight too and we need to continue improving in that area.”

Ludington fell to 0-10 on the season and next sees action Friday against Cadillac in a non-conference doubleheader.
