HOLTON – The Mona Shores Sailors traveled to Holton on Wednesday for a softball doubleheader.
 
The Sailors won the opener, 11-5. The second game was tied at 6-all in the eighth inning when the game was called due to darkness.
 
In the opener, the Sailors scored six unanswered runs after the game was tied at 5-all. Lily Baskin was the winning pitcher. She gave up seven hits, had no walks and struck out one. Brooklyn Graham, Maggie McCarthy and Mady Faught each had multi-hit games for Shores.
 
Holton senior Ryann Robins belted a three-run homer, the 33rd of her prep career.
 
In the second game, Jozlyn Turnbull and Miley Peterson split the mound duties for Shores. Turnbull threw five innings and Peterson three. Mona Shores trailed 6-0 in the sixth, but rallied, highlighted by a two-run home run by Mady Faught. Mona Shores’ rally was complete when McCarthy’s key hit tied the game.
