GREEN BAY – The Muskegon Lumberjacks nursed a one-goal lead for most of the game and came away with a 2-0 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday against Green Bay.

The Jacks are now leading the series 2-1 and will look to eliminate Green Bay on Wednesday night at Resch Center.

The winner of this series will face the winner of first-place Dubuque and Youngstown in the Eastern Conference finals.

The Lumberjacks’ penalty kill came up huge as Green Bay failed to score on six power-play chances.

Muskegon opened the scoring 18:46 into the first period on Justin Solovey’s third goal of the playoffs. Sacha Boisvert earned an assist.

The Lumberjacks set positive tone with a 13-7 advantage in shots in the first 20 minutes of play.

The second period was scoreless and found Muskegon nursing the one-goal lead with 20 minutes remaining.

The game remained 1-0 until a minute was left in regulation. That’s when Matvei Gridin found the back of an empty net to seal the win.

Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev earned the shutout win in net for Muskegon.
