HART – The Hart softball team breezed by visiting Hesperia in a twinbill on Wednesday.

The Pirates shut out the Panthers, 10-0, in the opener and won the nightcap, 15-1.

Gabby Quijas allowed just one hit and struck out three batters in the opener.

Caydence Bateson led Hart with three hits, two runs and two RBI. Maryn Klotz had two hits, while Abby Hicks chipped in one hit and four RBI. Gabby Schmieding, Makenna Carrier, Quijas, Julia Bishop and Reese Smith each had a hit.

In the second game, Quijas gave up six hits, one run and struck out three.

Bateson again led the Hart offense with three hits. Schmieding, Nora Chickering, Leah Walker and Smith each had hits.

Hart (18-6, 5-3) will be at home against Ludington on Thursday.

Hesperia will travel to Chippewa Hills on Friday.
