MUSKEGON – The Oakridge baseball team closed out their West Michigan Conference season as the outright champions with a sweep over Montague on Tuesday.

The Eagles topped the Wildcats, 16-1 and 16-2.

Michael Wambaugh allowed two hits, one run and struck out three batters for the Eagles in the opener.

For the Eagles, Ladon Southard had two hits, scored two runs and drove in two runs. Julian Primmer had two hits and scored three runs, while Brody Jennings and Wambaugh collected a pair of hits. Vitek Benes scored three runs.

The Wildcats’ Ryver Jarka scored their lone run in the first game.

In the nightcap, Jennings gave up four hits, one run and struck out seven, while Southard allowed three hits, one run and struck out four in relief.

Benes led the Eagle offense with three hits and two runs. Zac Cribbins chipped in two hits and four RBI. Evan Miller, Wambaugh, Brayden Cunningham, Chase Dutton and Bryce Bisson each had two hits.

Jarka had a triple and a run for the Wildcats.

Oakridge will be at Muskegon Catholic Central on Wednesday.

Montague will visit Morley-Stanwood on Thursday.
