Shelby slips by league rival Hart in girls’ soccer match; Jones scores game-winner for Tigers

HART – The Shelby girls soccer team edged out Hart, 2-1, in West Michigan Conference play on Monday thanks to a game-winning goal by Hailey Jones.

The action was tied 1-1 at the half.

The Tigers’ Hannah Frees tallied the first score of the game off of an indirect free kick. Jones netted the game-winner in the second half off of a corner kick by Kylie Brown.

The Pirates’ Sydney Goodrich scored the lone goal with a header.

Shelby (5-7-2, 2-4-2) will host Sparta on Wednesday.

Hart (9-7, 3-5) will travel to Ludington on Wednesday for league play.
