MUSKEGON–Mona Shores’ baseball team stranded 10 base runners in a 1-0 loss at Reeths-Puffer on Thursday in the OK Conference-Green.
It was the Sailors’ first loss in the conference, despite out-hitting the Rockets 7-5.
Mason Brunworth led the way at the plate for the Sailors with three hits, including a double.
Brady Recknagel suffered the loss in relief for the Sailors. The Rockets scored their run on a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

The RP varsity baseball team hosted the
Sailors of Mona Shores Thursday night in an Ok
Green clash. Freshman Brayden Mitchelson
made his first varsity start on the mound and
threw a gem, lasting six and a third innings,
scattering seven hits and only walking one to
earn his first varsity win by a score of 1-0 against
the state-ranked Sailors. Trent Reichert came in
to earn the save for the last two outs of the
game. Defense was stellar for both teams, as
there were no errors for either team. Offensively
Kyle Schlaff had two hits to lead the team, while
Alex Johnson also contributed a hit and scored
what proved to be the only run of the game in
the fourth inning. Kaden Edwards and Trent
Reichert also recorded hits. The Rockets now
look to Saturday where they host two games
Oakridge at 11:00 and Montague at 1:00. If they
advance they will play in the championship at
Marsh Field around 4:00. The JV boys Baseball
team fell short to Mona Shores last night in both
of their games. Chase Smith had 4 hits and
contributed 5 RB’s for the Rockets last night
