Indians 7, Tigers 3 – The Cleveland Indians snapped the Tigers five-game winning streak with a victory on Tuesday night.
The Indians, who are 4-0 against Detroit this season, jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first inning and led 4-0 after three.
The Tigers scored a pair of runs in the fifth on a two-run homer by Ian Kinsler to cut their deficit in half, but the Indians responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fifth to take a five-run lead.
The Indians were paced by Francisco Lindor with a double, home run and three RBIs while Mike Napoli chipped in with a double and two RBIs.
Nick Castellanos added an RBI for the Tigers in a losing effort.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Justin Verlander struggled in the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in five innings.
The Tigers are now 14-11 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the Chicago White Sox.
Detroit will look to even its series against the Indians with a win on Wednesday night.
