Emily Peake went 2-for-3 and hit a home run as Muskegon Community College took home a 6-2 victory over visiting Lansing CC in seven innings at on Monday.

Peake singled in the second inning and homered in the sixth inning.

Megan VanderWal looked sharp on the rubber.

Lansing CC managed just two hits off of VanderWal, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during her three innings of work.

Megan Jean got the win in relief for Muskegon Community College. Jean pitched four innings and allowed two runs.

Muskegon Community College didn’t relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when it scored on an RBI single by Jean.

Muskegon Community College tacked on another four runs in the second inning.

Alyson Behnke started the inning with a single, scoring Sydney Tharp. That was followed up by Jean’s single, plating Behnke and Peake.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the sixth, Lansing CC faced just a 6-1 deficit. An RBI single by Hannah Knight gave Lansing CC life. Morgan Harmon struck out to end the Lansing CC threat.

One run in the bottom of the seventh helped Lansing CC close the deficit to 6-2. as Jessica Wood homered.

Jean ended the game by getting Cheyenne Wallace to ground out.
