The Ravenna boys basketball squad continued its hot start with a 63-57 win over Whitehall on Thursday in West Michigan Conference play.
The Bulldogs trailed 15-13 after the first quarter but took a 29-20 halftime lead after going on a 16-5 second quarter run. Ravenna increased its lead to 48-28 after the third stanza.
The Vikings tried to mount a comeback, going on a 29-15 fourth quarter tear but fell short.
The Bulldogs were led by Josh VanderWoude with 15 points while Calvin Schullo added 11 and Grant Parker chipped in with nine.
Parker and Jacob May paced Ravenna under the basket with seven rebounds apiece.
The Bulldogs are now 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in league play.
HART 66, MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 51- Hunter Tubbs and Dustin Klotz each propelled the Pirates to victory with 21 points apiece, while Simon Herrera chipped in with six assists.
Hart trailed 13-11 after the first quarter and 30-21 at halftime but took a 46-42 advantage through three quarters after a 25-12 third stanza run.
The Pirates finished strong with a 20-9 tear during the fourth quarter.
The Spartans were paced by Jeffery Carrier with 21 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks.
Hart is now 4-1 on the season and 2-1 in West Michigan Conference play.
NORTH MUSKEGON 68, SHELBY 31 – The Norse jumped out to a 27-8 lead after the first quarter, led 45-16 at halftime and had a 66-24 advantage through three quarters.
TJ McKenzie paced North Muskegon with 34 points while John Hayhurst added 12 points and 13 rebounds. Deshary Warren chipped in with eight points and six steals.
The Tigers were led by Tristan Landis and Jarrett Furman with seven points each.
North Muskegon is now 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in league play while the Tigers dropped to 0-4 on the year and 0-3 in conference competition.
OAKRIDGE 62, MONTAGUE 53 – The Eagles jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter, 30-23 at halftime and 46-42 heading into the fourth stanza.
Oakridge closed out the contest with a 16-11 fourth quarter run.
The Wildcats were led by Kenyan Johnston with 25 points and six rebounds while Nick Stever added nine points and six rebounds.
Montague is now 3-3 on the season and 1-2 in league play.
