The Muskegon Community College baseball team won both its games on Monday – 3-2 over Florence Darlington Tech in 12 innings and Coastal Carolina’s club team 10-3.

In the opener, David Foster pitched 9 1/3 innings before giving way to reliever Bryant Westra. Cody Merkins was the winning pitcher. Foster struck out six and allowed five hits.

Travis Cohoon and Greg Chulski had two hits each for the Jayhawks.

MCC pushed across the winning run in the 12th inning. Chulski led out an infield hit, Patrick Giddings’ sacrifice bunt was misplayed and pinch runner Nate Zielinski reached third. After a Chris Williams walk, Drew Johnson dropped a suicide squeeze to score Zielinski.

In the secod game, Nick Eely threw a complete game and allowed no earned run gem. He struck out 10 and walked only 1.  He allowed two hits.  Jake Hahn and Kyle Vedrode had two hits each.

The Jayhawks play two games again on Tuesday against  Logan Williams and Mercyhurst NE.
