“Nick has resigned, and on behalf of our athletic department and I’m sure all of his players, we just want to thank him for his many years of service both as a varsity coach and sub-varsity coach,” said Mona Shores athletic director Ryan Portenga.

Bronsema was the varsity boys coach for four years and finished with an 11-11 record this past season. In the Class A districts, the Sailors defeated Reeths-Puffer before falling to the Muskegon Big Reds in the next round.

“He’s a good man and he’s a great servant to this school district,” Portenga said. “He’ll undoubtedly do great things in the future for the Sailors of Mona Shores.”

Bronsema is an elementary school teacher in the district.

Portenga said the job has been posted and the interview process is expected to begin at the end of April.
