The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks’ baseball team got off to a strong start en route to a 10-0 victory over Lansing Community College on Wednesday.

The nightcap was washed out by rain with the Jayhawks leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.

In the opener, Nick Eely stuck out six, walked one and allowed two hits in a complete-game performance. He got all the offense in the first inning that saw the Jayhawks score six runs.

Kory Brown, M.J. Oshinski, Jason Ribecky and Ty Devine each had two hits for MCC, which improved to 19-9 overall, 10-3 in the conference. Ribecky belted a two-run homer and finished with three RBI. Devine also knocked in three runs.

Thursday’s games against Cornerstone have been postponed. MCC returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday when they host St. Clair CC.
