MUSKEGON – A big third quarter sent the Kent City Eagle girls basketball team past host Muskegon Thursday night in the season opener for both clubs.

The Eagles erased a 33-28 halftime deficit by outscoring the Big Reds 19-12 in the third quarter to come away with the 60-58 victory.

Kaitlyn Geers scored 15 points in a balanced Kent City attacked that had nine players score. Brani Boehm scored 11 points, Kendal Carlson added 10 points and Janae Atwood chipped in nine points.

Kent City struggled to control Muskegon’s Mardrieka Cook who led all scores with 20. Keiarra Guy chipped in 15 points and Raven Moore finished with 12 points.
