Muskegon senior post player Deyonta Davis will be taking his basketball talents to the national stage.

Davis was one of 24 high school seniors chosen to play in the McDonald’s All-American game on April 1 at the United Center in Chicago. Davis is the first area player to be honored with a selection to that game, which started in 2007.

Davis, who stands 6-foot-9, was the only player from Michigan to be chosen to play in the game. Eighteen state players were originally nominated, including Baldwin two-sport standout Brandon Childress.

Davis, who is averaging 18 points and 13 rebounds per game, will play for the West team in the game.

The selection of the 24 participants was aired on ESPN on Wednesday night.

Davis is signed to play for Michigan State University next fall.
