The Mona Shores girls basketball team moved into a tie for first place in the O-K Black Conference race by downing Grand Rapids Union 45-36 on Friday.

The Sailors improved to 15-3 overall and 6-2 in the league. Mona Shores and Union came into the contest tied for second place.

Mona Shores is now tied for first with Reeths-Puffer, which lost to Muskegon on Friday.

The Sailors gained their margin of victory with a 14-6 edge in the first quarter.

Jordan Walker led the winning effort with 14 points.
