Red Wings 3, Lightning 1 – Red Wings avenge last season’s first round exit, defeating the Tampa Lightning on Tuesday.
Henrik Zetterberg and Kyle Quincey each scored a goal and picked up an assist for Detroit, while Gustav Nyquist scored his first goal of the season.
The Red Wings are 3-0-0 on the season, good for second place in the Atlantic Division.
Detroit’s goaltender Jimmy Howard stopped 20-of-21 shots.
The Red Wings will host the Carolina Hurricanes in their next game on Friday night.
