The Muskegon Lumberjacks started the final weekend of their season on a sour note, dropping a 5-1 decision to the host Chicago LSJ Logo incertSteel on Friday night.

The Lumberjacks are now 27-25-7. They will close out the 2015-16 campaign with a game Saturday night in Des Moines against the Buccaneers at 8:15 p.m. EST.

Chicago took a 2-0 lead after one period on Friday with goals from Billy Sweezey and Samuel Bucek.

The Steel added another goal midway through the second period when Marc Johnstone popped in a rebound.

Muskegon’s Tyler Irvine scored a power play goal late in the second period, cutting the Jacks’ deficit to 3-1.

Chicago iced the victory with two quick goals late in the third period from Max Zimmer and Bucek, respectively.

Joey Daccord took the loss in goal for Muskegon, stopping 22 shots.
