White Sox 10, Tigers 9 – The Tigers blew a seven-run lead in Monday’s extra innings loss to the Chicago White Sox.
Detroit led 7-0 in the third inning before the White Sox responded with six runs to cut their deficit to 7-6 after five frames.
The Tigers led 9-7 in the ninth inning but closer Francisco Rodriguez blew his first save since opening day.
The White Sox were paced by Jose Abreu with a home run and three RBIs while Adam Eaton chipped in with two RBIs and the game-winning hit.
Ian Kinsler led the Tigers with a home run and two RBIs, while J.D. Martinez added two doubles and two RBIs and Cameron Maybin chipped in with two RBIs.
Detroit starting pitcher Matt Boyd took a no-decision, allowing six runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings.
Anibal Sanchez picked up the loss, allowing the game-winning run after tossing 2 1/3 innings of relief for Detroit.
The Tigers are now 32-31 on the season, good for third place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.
Detroit will look to even the series against the White Sox with a victory on Tuesday night.
