The Oakridge and Orchard View boys soccer teams faced off on Wednesday in a battle for the Brooks Road Trophy. Oakridge walked away victorious with a late goal that secured a 2-1 edge in front of its home crowd.

Christoffer Simonsen lifted the Eagles with 2:27 left in the game, scoring his first goal of the season.

Oakridge (2-0) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half off a Bayly Ehnen goal that was assisted by Dylan Lucas.

Orchard View’s Roger McKenzie tied the score 1-1 midway through the second half.

Eagle goalies Brandon Jones and Jason Cerka combined for the win, as Jones posted three saves and Cerka made six.

FRUITPORT CALVARY CHRISTIAN 2, SAUGATUCK 0 – Fruitport Calvary Christian opened its season with a win over host Saugatuck on Tuesday. Sophomore Ethan Pollack gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the start. Zach Zehr secured the win for Fruitport with his first goal of the season. The Eagles outshot Saugatuck 17-3 as senior goalie Jake McFarren posted three saves.

FREMONT 5, KENT CITY 2 – The Fremont boys soccer team used four unanswered second-half goals to top host Kent City on Wednesday. Cole Miller scored a hat trick to lead the drive for the Packers who fought back after trailing in both halves. Preston Osterhart tallied a goal and an assist for Fremont while Wyatt VanBoven scored a goal and Jaxx Miller had two assists. Kasidy Wright also had an assist for Fremont (1-1).

LUDINGTON 3, WHITEHALL 0 – Ludington cruised past Whitehall as Noah Peterson tallied two goals and Will Flewelling added a goal of his own. Steven Darby and Isaiah Lynn added assists for the Orioles. Kyle Wendt posted the shutout in goal for Ludington (5-0) with five saves.
