The Fremont football team gave up 34 unanswered points in the first half and went on to lose a CSAA Gold conference game to Newaygo on Friday, 48-7.

The Packers fell way behind early, giving up 13 points in the first quarter and 21 in the second.

Newaygo put two more scores  in the second half while Fremont got on the board with a 15-yard touchdown run from Zane Stroven midway through the fourth quarter.

Stroven led the Packers on the ground, rushing for 90 yards on 18 carries. Christian Kennedy was the leading receiver, recording 55 yards on two receptions.

On the defensive end, Kane Widing led Fremont with 7.5 tackles while Garrett Visscher followed with four tackles.

Fremont falls to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The team travels to Grant next Friday.
