Kent City volleyball hosted its sixth annual Dig Pink Invitational with eight teams attending Saturday’s event. Each Kent City coach and player dedicate the day to someone in their life who is either fighting cancer or lost their battle to the disease.

The Eagles’ team has raised $3,500 for the Side-Out Foundation this season and through nine years, has raised over $55,000.

Kent City (25-8-3, 5-2) captured the title, beating Grant 2-1 with scores of 20-25, 25-19 and 15-11. The Eagles reached the finals by beating Oakridge 2-1 (20-15, 25-19, 16-14). The team was 3-0 in pool play, topping Newaygo (2-0), Oakridge (2-0) and Tri-County (2-0).

Leading the Eagles on the day was Jenna Harrison with 95 assists, 31 points and three aces. Erica Bull had 37 kills, 22 points, seven aces and 10 blocks, while Alyssa Larson had 29 kills, 82 digs, 28 points and three aces.

Also pacing Kent City was Hannah VanderLugt with 28 kills and Jasmine Weeks had 57 digs, 32 points and nine aces.
