The Muskegon Catholic football team cruised past Muskegon Heights while on the road Friday night, recording a 49-6 victory in a Lakes 8 contest.

The Crusaders led 7-0 after the first quarter, scoring on a one-yard run by Tio Knight.

MCC increased its lead to 22-0 at halftime with a 34-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Max Price to Nolan Convertini, a safety and a 25-yard touchdown pass from Price to Carson St. Amour.

The Crusaders continued their scoring tear in the third quarter scoring on a 20-yard pass from Price to St. Amour and a 59-yard pass completion to Josh Holden to take a 35-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Muskegon Heights cut the deficit to 35-6 on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Jakari Edwards to Jaiden Williams.

MCC closed out the scoring with a 43-yard touchdown pass from Price to Convertini and a 10-yard run by Lulo Mafahla.

Knight led the Crusaders on the ground with 106 yards rushing, while Price, who completed all five of his passes, recorded 181 in total passing yards. Convertini led the receivers with 77 yards receiving.

Dane Rutz, Tommy Kartes and Bailey Williams led the MCC defense with five tackles each.

The Tigers were led by Anthony Floyd with 64 yards rushing, while Edwards threw for 166 yards and Karlos Davis had 111 reception yards on six catches. Muskegon Heights was paced defensively by David Wallace with six tackles.

The Crusaders improved to 3-2 overall. They play host to Manistee next week.

Muskegon Heights fell to 1-5 and will host Orchard View next Friday.
