The Montague football team rolled past visiting Newaygo in Division 6 pre-district action by a 55-7 margin on Friday.

Dylan Everett opened the scoring for the Wildcats with a ten-yard touchdown run early in the first. Quarterback Drew Collins then notched two touchdown passes in the first quarter to Johnny Monette and Everett to give Montague a 20-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Collins scrambled for an eight-yard touchdown run, then completed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Sam Smith and a 20-yard touchdown pass to Everett to make the score 41-0. Newaygo answered with a touchdown to make the score 41-7 at the half.

In the third quarter, Collins connected with Monette on a 23-yard touchdown pass to increase the Wildcat lead to 48-7. Tugg Nichols found the end zone on a one-yard touchdown run to close out the scoring for Montage.

Collins was terrific in the passing game, completing 13-of-17 passes and recording 214 yards. Everett led the Wildcats with 104 yards rushing on 11 carries while leading the receivers with 98 yards. Monette finished with 68 yards receiving while Trey Mikkelson led the defense with five tackles.

Montague will face Ravenna next weekend in the Division 6 district finals.
