North Muskegon’s football season ended on a tough note with a 35-0 road loss to undefeated Pewamo-Westphalia on Friday in a Division 7 pre-district playoff game.

The Norse ended their season with a 5-5 record. All five of their losses came to playoff teams, including three that were undefeated at the time.

Pewamo-Westphalia, a state finalist last year, scored seven points in the first quarter and 14 in both the second and third to seal the win. The home team was dominant on defense, holding North Muskegon to only 39 yards rushing. Overall P-W had 260 total yards of total offense, almost all on the ground, while the Norse only managed 114.

Ethan Thelen led Pewamo-Westphalia with three touchdown runs and one TD pass. Tanner Wirth piled up 134 yards rushing and scored once.

Norse quarterback John Hayhurst completed 13 of 25 passes for 75 yards and was picked off twice. Brenden Moat caught six passes for 50 yards. Amerion Dickerson and Noah Stewart led the North Muskegon defense with seven and six tackles, respectively.
