The Kent City boys basketball team defeated 67-61 on Tuesday against Morley-Stanwood in a league game.

The Eagles trailed 14-8 after the first quarter and held a 32-31 advantage at the half.

Kent City outscored Morley Stanwood 15-14 in the third frame and pulled away in the final quarter.

Eli Carlson paced the Eagles with 20 points. Shawn Anderson followed with 18 points while Max Hudson added 14 points. Anderson sunk four straight free throws in the final quarter to seal the victory.

The Eagles, now 5-3 overall and 4-0 in their conference, travel to Holton on Friday.

NON-LEAGUE

WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 54, HESPERIA 14 – The Warriors cruised past Hesperia on the road Tuesday night, jumping out to a 19-1 lead in the first and taking a commanding 41-3 advantage
into the half.

WMC outscored the Panthers 8-6 in the third frame.

Michael Tencate paced the Warriors with 14 points while Brekken Fairfield recorded 12.

The Panthers were led by Hunter Gudyka with six points.

The Warriors improved to 6-4 overall and 2-2 in their conference slate.

TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 53, LUDINGTON 37 – The Orioles fell behind early and trailed 24-19 at halftime.

Ludington was outscored 17-8 in the third quarter.

Peyton LaCombe paced the Orioles with 13 points. Brayden Porter added eight points in the loss.

Ludington, now 7-3 overall and 4-0 in its conference, travels to Orchard View on Friday.

O-K BLACK CONFERENCE

REETHS PUFFER 76, FRUITPORT 54 – The Rockets maintained their lead throughout, leading 19-12 in the first and carrying a 35-26 advantage into the half.

Reeths Puffer outscored the Trojans 19-10 in the third quarter.

Emcee Williams recorded 22 points for the Rockets while teammate Kaleb Mitchelson added 19 points. Kendall Smith finished with 13 points, seven boards and four blocks in the win.

Reeths Puffer improved to 5-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Rockets will travel to Spring Lake on Friday.

The Trojans, who are now 3-4 overall and 1-2 in league play, were led by Gavin FIsher with 19 points while Marcelo Conklin added 10.

GRAND RAPIDS UNION 74, MONA SHORES 45 – The Sailors trailed 35-30 at halftime and were outscored by an 11-9 margin during the third quarter.

Jaylen Hopson led the Sailors with 16 points. Drew Southland added 13 points while Kobe Allen had seven points and six rebounds.

The Sailors, who are now 2-7 overall and 0-3 in conference play, hosts Muskegon on Friday.

O-K RED CONFERENCE

GRAND HAVEN 50, GRANDVILLE 40 –
The Bucs recorded their seventh win of the season in a close O-K Red conference matchup Tuesday night.

Owen Ross paced Grand Haven with 14 points. Harrison Sorelle added 13 points while Adam Strom finished with eight points.

The Buccaneers, now 7-3 overall and 1-3 in league play, travel to Caledonia on Friday for another conference game.

O-K Blue

SPRING LAKE 83, GRAND RAPIDS WEST CATHOLIC 48 – The Lakers dominated the offensive game from the very beginning, jumping out to a 24-14 lead in the first and maintaining a commanding 49-23 halftime advantage.

The Lakers outscored Catholic 22-14 in the third quarter.

Sophomore Kaden George paced Spring Lake with a career-high 16 points. Cayden Ball added 15 points while Lucas Lyyski recorded 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sam Sheridan had 11 points and six assists on the win.

The Lakers are now 6-4 overall and 2-2 in the O-K Blue Conference play. They play host to Reeths-Puffer on Friday.
