The Mona Shores girls golf team just needed a day to warm up.

After finishing fourth in their own season-opening invitational tournament on Wednesday, the Sailors turned things around in a big way on Thursday, winning the championship by more than 20 points at the Zeeland East Invitational at Pigeon Creek Golf Course.

The Sailors finished with a team score of 371, followed by Holland Christian and Zeeland West, which both shot a 393. South Haven was fourth with a 400, followed by Zeeland East (402), Wayland (411) and West Ottawa (482).

The top Mona Shores golfer was Olivia Kasher, who finished second individually with an 86. Riley Trygstad finished sixth with a 90, Lily Miller was 10th with a 96, Dezmin Merwin took 12th place with a 99 and Elise Houle was 18th with a 105.

Trygstad and Merwin each posted personal best scores in the tournament.

Carly Lukins of Zeeland East was the individual medalist with a score of 82.
