The Oakridge football squad opened the postseason with a 40-6 win over Chippewa Hills on Friday in a Division 5 district contest.

Jacob Danicek scored the lone touchdown of the first quarter for the Eagles on a 47-yard reception from quarterback Ethen Daily. Bryce Kartles kicked the extra point to give Oakridge a 7-0 lead.  

The Eagles added touchdowns on a 45-yard run by Daily and a seven-yard reception by Braedyn Beattie from Daily.

Oakridge led 21-0 at halftime.

Corey Vanderputte scored the final three touchdowns for the Eagles from 67, 3 and 28 yards out.

The Warriors closed out the scoring with a three-yard touchdown run by Gage Todd.

Vanderputte led the Oakridge offense with 154 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Daily followed with a touchdown of his own, along with 69 rushing yards and 112 passing yards.

Brenden Raymond headed the Eagle defense with nine tackles while Hayden Gillette and Gage Lamadline added six.

The Eagles are now 5-2 on the season and will face the winner of Newaygo and Big Rapids.
