Mona Shores volleyball went 1-3 at the Fruitport invite on Saturday despite competing close in each match.

The Sailors started strong with a win against Grant (25-11,25-16), but fell to Fruitport (20-25, 25-23,15-10), Whitehall (25-20, 29-31) and North Muskegon (21-25, 25-22,15-11).

Grace Norris led the day for the Sailors getting 33 assists, seven blocks, 21 kills and 16 digs. Kyann Hellmann made 41 assists, one block and 23 digs.

Holli Brus made 32 digs and five kills, Ava Dunn got 24 kills and 17 blocks and Lauren Morea made 31 digs.

Mona Shores is now 8-8 overall and 1-0 in the OK Green.

Next up, the Sailors host their first home conference match of the season with Hawaiian night at the Sailor Center against Zeeland West on Tuesday.
