The Mona Shores volleyball team played well despite losing a teammate in the first set of the day and went on to finish 1-2.

The Sailors opened with a loss at the hands of Portage Central (27-25, 25-21), then found redemption against Forest Hills Eastern (25-13, 25-13).

In the gold bracket quarterfinals, the Sailors narrowly fell against Zeeland East (22-25, 21-25).

Leading for the Sailors was Grace Norris with 32 assists, 22 kills, nine digs, eight aces and two blocks while Kyann Hellmann got 27 assists, 23 digs, seven kills and posted three aces.

Anabeth Hylland had 21 digs, 14 kills and made three blocks, Holli Brus had 20 kills and 14 digs, Ali Trautner got 20 digs and 13 kills while Chloe Rose and Lauren Morea made seven and five digs, respectively for Mona Shores.

Mona Shores is now 12-16-1 for the season and has a 4-3 record in the O-K Green and will host Holland on Tuesday to open the conference tournament.
