MUSKEGON—The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team went into the holiday break on a high note as they made quick work of Henry Ford College in a lopsided 113-59 game.

It was all MCC as they jumped out to a 29-5 lead after the first ten minutes of play and extended that lead outscoring Henry Ford 27-22 in the second stanza for a 56-27 halftime lead.

The Jayhawks didn’t let up in the second half as they kept running and gunning, scoring at will, both from inside the paint and from 3-point land, racking up a 29-17 third quarter scoring advantage and 28-15 advantage in the fourth quarter.

MCC shot 50.6 percent from the field, connecting on 44-of-87 shots from the field, including 15-of-35 shots from 3-point territory. The Jayhawks were perfect from the free throw line going 10-for-10.

MCC would have six players burn the nets for double digits with Mariah Pringle (Brethren) leading the way with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists, followed by Trina Lewis (Reeths Puffer) with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists; Julia Tierman (Mona Shores) with 15 points and 2 assists; Calla Miller (Fremont) wih 14 points and 4 rebounds; Susan Sisman (Marselisborg) with 11 points and 3 steals and Ally Sieber (Reeths Puffer) who chipped in with 10 points and 6 reounds. Six other Jayhawks would find the scoring column.

With the win, the Jayhawks improve their record to 4-1 overall.

MCC will take the court again on Tuesday, December 28 at Great Lakes Christian College. The Jayhawks will return home on Thursday, December 30 to host Saint Clair Community College.
