LUDINGTON — RyAnn Rohrer was a one-person wrecking crew for the Ludington girls basketball team Monday night, carrying the Orioles on her back with 16 first-half points.

Rohrer scored all of her team’s 12 points as the Orioles built a substantial 12-5 lead. It set the tone for the rest of the game, as Ludington scored a big 40-26 non-conference win over Mason County Central at Hawley Gymnasium..

Mason County Central struggled to take care of the ball from the opening tip, and gave the Orioles several extra possessions. and the Orioles capitalized on the mistakes for a 13-8 advantage in the second period to take a 23-11 lead at the half.

The Spartans finally got the upper hand on the Orioles in the third period with a 9-7 advantage, cutting the deficit to 10 points, 30-20 going into the fourth quarter. Ludington had a 10-6 in the final stanza.

Rohrer finished the game with 18 points for the Orioles. Olivia Lynn contributed and 11 while Keelyn Laird added six. The Orioles shot 4 of 10 at the free throw line.

Wren Nelson led the Spartans with eight points, Grace Weinert added five while Jaden Pierson and Charlie Banks each netted four points. Mason County Central shot 6 of 14 from the free throw line.

The Orioles improved their record to 7-4 for the season with their fourth straight win, and are next scheduled to host Muskegon Heights in a Lakes 8 Activities Conference game on Friday night.

Mason County Central fell to 5-3 with the loss which snapped a four-game winning streak, and is next scheduled to play host to Muskegon Orchard View in another non-conference game Wednesday night.
