HOLTON — Holton’s girls basketball team won its fifth straight game with a 45-31 victory over Catholic Central on Friday night at home in a non-conference game.

“I’ve been waiting for my team to play a good first and second half, and I think this is as good as we’ve looked for two halves,” Holton head coach Robert Jordan said.

The Red Devils led, 13-8 after the first quarter and 21-14 at the half following a 13-6 second quarter.

Catholic Central opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run, but the Red Devils answered with a 12-4 surge to end it and go up, 33-24 at the end of the third.

Holton extended its lead to 20 points late in the fourth quarter.

“All wins are huge for us, but this one gets us double digit wins for the first time in a long time,” Jordan said. “And it was against a team coming in on their own four-game winning streak.

“We continue to grow, and I still feel our best basketball is in front of us.”

Courtney Boes had another big game for the Red Devils with 15 points and seven rebounds. Abby Fowler had six points and five assists.

Sara Albanese had 10 points to lead Catholic Central.

The Red Devils improved to 10-5 overall and will next be in action on Friday when they host Lakeview.

Catholic Central fell to 7-6 overall and will be at home against Fruitport Calvary Christian on Thursday night.
