Spring Lake cruises by Orchard View 59-32 in district boys basketball action advances to take on Whitehall

SPRING LAKE–The Spring Lake boys basketball team breezed through the opening round of the Division 2 district tournament Monday with a 59-32 decision over Orchard View.

The Lakers found their rhythm early and carried it with them throughout the contest.

By halftime, the Lakers built up a commanding 31-10 lead.

The Lakers continued to contain the Cardinals (4-16) in the second half and rolled into the fourth quarter with a 45-19 lead.

Derrick Paggeot led the Lakers with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Evan McDermott added 10 points while Jackson Core had eight points, 14 rebounds and six assists.

Spring Lake (9-12) will face Whitehall at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in a district semifinal matchup.
