CUSTER — Hart’s boys and girls teams swept the Mason County Eastern Invitational at Custer on Wednesday, while the Cardinal girls were third and the boys 10th.

Pentwater’s girls were seventh and the boys eighth.

The Pirate boys scored 51 points to outdistance Traverse City St. Francis who had 44 points. Pentwater scored 11 points and MCE finished with six.

For the boys, Pentwater senior Campbell Miller tied for second in the 100 meters (personal record 11.6 seconds), Hart freshman Eman Hertzler tied for seventh (personal record 11.9 seconds) and Pentwater junior Lane Rood tied for ninth (personal record 12.2 seconds).

Hart junior Seth Ackley won the 1600-meter race (4:59.0), while Pirate senior Noah Bosley was sixth (senior record 5:21.0) and Pentwater sophomore Abe VanDuinen finished eighth (5:28.0).

In the 110-meter high hurdles Hart sophomore Caleb Westerbeek was fourth (20.0 seconds). Hart’s 3200-meter relay team of junior Clayton Ackley, Seth Ackley, Bosley and junior Wyatt Dean was first (9:06.5) while the MCE squad of freshman Alex Tyndall, sophomore Dakota Matzen, sophomore Clay Shoup and junior Nathan Wing finished third (9:31.5).

Hart junior Kellen Kimes won the shot put (49 feet, 10 inches), while Pentwater sophomore Zachary Schwarz was seventh (34 feet, 7 inches).

Easton Vanderzwaag of Hart finished second in the long jump (17 feet, 3.5 inches), Pentwater senior Reydyn Hugo was fifth (16 feet, 2.5 inches), MCE junior Wing took eighth (15 feet, 6 inches) and Pentwater sophomore Christian Wright finished ninth (15 feet, 4.5 inches).

Hart’s girls scored 39.5 points, St. Francis 29, MCE 27 and Pentwater 10.

In the 100 meters Hart freshman Addison Hovey finished first (13.0 seconds), Pirate junior Aspen Boutell tied for fourth (13.6 seconds) and Pentwater junior Jocelyn Richison was sixth (14.1 seconds).

Hart senior Audrianna Enns won the 1600 meters (5:20.0), Mason County Eastern freshman Lucy Shoup finished fourth (6:07.0), Pentwater’s VanDuinen took seventh (6:30.0), Walkeville senior Julie Sheehy was eighth (6:39.0) and Hart freshman Brooklyn Carter was 10th (6:50.0).

Mason County Eastern took second and third in the 100-meter hurdles with sophomore Olivia Wing second (18.3 seconds) and freshman Payton Haynes was third (19.1 seconds). Hart sophomore Laura Bitely tied for sixth (19.8 seconds).

Hart won the 800-meter relay with the team of senior Lauren VanderLaan, Boutell, freshman Jessica Jazwinski and senior Kendall Williamson (1:57.9).

The Pirates also finished first in the 3200-meter relay with junior Kelly VanderKodde, freshman Lexie Beth Nienhuis, Enns and Jazwinski (11:02.0).

Mason County Eastern senior Corinna Hernandez won the discus (121 feet, 1 inch), Pentwater’s VanDuinen was fifth (69 feet, 9 inches) and MCE junior Janessa Alvesteffer was seventh (68 feet, 11 inches).

Pentwater’s Richison finished second in the long jump (14 feet, 1.5 inches), Hart’s Boutell was third (13 feet, 1.5 inches), Eastern senior Hillary Howe took fifth (13 feet) and MCE senior Sydney Gage was 10th (11 feet, 7.5 inches).
