MUSKEGON — Muskegon Community College’s women’s softball team swept the Ancilla College Chargers in a doubleheader Friday, 9-1 and 12-3.

In the first game, Makayla Thompson (Reeths-Puffer) took the win in the circle for the Jayhawks. She allowed one run on just two hits, striking out five batters in five innings of work.

Thompson, Morgan Knapp (Whitehall) and Kendyll Bond (Jenison) all had multiple hits and drove in runs in the Jayhawks big fourth inning, with Knapp and Thompson slugging home runs as well.

Maddison Mettler (Mona Shores) and Kennadi Dykstra (Fruitport) each had multiple hits as the Jayhawks knocked out a total of 11 hits.

Bond was in the circle for Game 2 and threw six strong innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and struck out one while not issuing a walk.

The Jayhawks got things started in the second inning when Madison Clarke (North Muskegon) ripped a double to drive in a run.

Annika Roersma (West Catholic) and Bond each scored a run in the third inning. Bond belted two home runs, one in the second inning and another in the sixth.

Dykstra, Mettler, Brianna Pastor (Oakridge), Roersma and Willo Staal (Fruitport) each had multiple hits for the Jayhawks, with Pastor going 4-for-4.
