Hesperia vs. Kent City

HESPERIA — Kent City’s girls softball team swept a Central State Activities Association-Silver doubeheader from Hesperia, 7-5 and 8-3 on the road Monday afternoon.

Game one was close all the way, with Hesperia taking a 2-1 lead at the end of the first inning. Kent City scored two runs in the top of the fifth to grab a 3-2 edge.

The Lady Eagles scored a single run in the sixth, and three runs in the top of the seventh before the Lady Panthers scored three runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh.

Kaila Krueger paced the Lady Eagles’ offense going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored. Lexie Bowers also was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Denyle Bonter contributed a base hit and a run scored, while Abbigal Pecynski and Savannah Miller had had a base hit.

Jaycee Hoffman was the winning pitcher, throwing seven complete innings allowing five runs (two earned) on six hits with two walks and 12 strike outs.

Katy Skok took the loss in the circle for Hesperia, giving up three runs on three hits and four walks in four innings of work. Emma Joppich threw three innings of relief and allowed four runs on four hits, walking four and striking out two.

Ally Townsend was the leading hitter for the Lady Panthers going 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored,. Joppich drove in two runs and Triniti Tanner also had a base hit.

In the nightcap Hesperia took a brief 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Eagles answered with two runs in the top of the second and a single run in the third to build a 3-1 lead.

The Lady Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the third to tie the score, 3-3 before Kent City put up a four-spot in the top of the fourth to lead, 7-3.

Hoffman again was in the circle for the Lady Eagles, going the distance allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and struck out nine.

Bowers finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, Krueger was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored and Miller went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

Hoffman, Samara Kolehouse and Pecynski each had one RBI.

Skok pitched five innings for the Lady Panthers and allowed seven runs (four earned) on seven hits, walked two and struck out three. Joppich finished the last two innings allowing one run on two hits, walking two and striking out four.

Leading hitters for the Lady Panthers included Emmie Tinkham who was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Natalie Merrill and Adriana Slater each had a hit.

Grand Haven vs. East Kentwood

KENTWOOD — Grand Haven’s girls softball team dropped an OK Conference-Red doubleheader from East Kentwood, 10-6 and 4-2 on the road Monday afternoon.

East Kentwood took a 2-0 lead after three innings, but Grand Haven scored two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game, 2-2.

The Lady Buccaneers built a 6-2 lead after scoring four runs in the top of the fifth inning, but East Kentwood pulled away with three runs in the bottom half and three more in the sixth.

Regan Riemersma started in the circle for the Lady Bucs and went four innings allowing six runs on nine hits, walking only one and striking out three.

Hannah Bowen finished the game, throwing the first two innings and allowing four runs on six hits, walking one and striking out two.

Skylar Covelli was the leading hitter for the game, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Savanna Collins, Emily Walcott, Sami Franz, Riermersma and Veda Vargas all had single hits.

Hannah Aldred went the distance in the circle in Game 2 in taking the loss for the Lady Bucs. She allowed four runs on six hits, walked two and struck out one.

Riermersma went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and a runs scored to lead Grand Haven at the plate. Covelli contributed a double, while Walcott, Kendall Pahl, Mercedes Ybbarra and Aldred added hits.

Oakridge vs. Unity Christian

MUSKEGON — Oakridge’s girls softball team split a non-conference doubleheader with Unity Christian, losing the opener 1-0 and rebounding to win the nightcap 6-4 at home Monday afternoon.

Brooklyn Galdeen was in the circle for the opener and took the loss. She pitched seven innings allowing 10 hits, walking two and striking out five.

The Lady Eagles finished with just three hits, one each by Brenna Cabrera, Andrea Romero and Mallori Whipple.

Kylee Willea picked up the win in the nightcap for the Lady Eagles, giving nine hits and striking out one.

Jasmine Pastor hit a home run to tie the game in the seventh, 3-3. Galdeen ripped a big two-out, two-RBI single in the eighth.

Ahria Doombos and Gracie Willea had back-to-back singles with two outs in the eighth to spark the Lady Eagles to three runs in the inning. Doombos had two singles.

Oakridge improved to 25-4 overall and 12-0 in the conference.

Ludington vs. Orchard View

MUSKEGON — Ludington’s girls softball team swept a Lakes 8 Activities Conference doubleheader from Orchard View, 18-1 and 23-16 on the road Monday afternoon.

Lilli Goodrich pitched the complete seven innings in the opener, giving up just three hits while striking out 17.

She also helped out out on offense, going 3-for-5 with two triples, and Ayiana Rangel was the team leader going 4-for-5 with a triple and a home run. Brynn Cole and Keeley Curtis each had two hits.

Goodrich again took the circle for the Lady Orioles in the nightcap and got the win. She threw the first four innings and gave up four hits while striking ut six.

Jody Meisenheimer pitched the final three innings and got the save, giving up eight hits and five walks while striking out one.

Goodrich finished 3-for-4 with a triple and a home run. Brynn Fortner was 3-for-5 while Mya Bryant, Meisenheimer, Cole, Curtis and Rangel each had multiple hits, including doubles.

Ludington finished 8-0 in the conference and improved to 13-9 overall.

Hart vs. Montague

HART — Montague’s girls softball team lost a West Michigan Conference doubleheader to Hart, 17-6 and 8-7 on the road Monday afternoon.

The Lady Wildcats scored five runs in the second inning to put the pressure on, helped along by groundouts from Kiara Mikkelsen and Alissa Wynnm and a walk by Stacia Scheidegger plus a single from Natalie Kellogg.

Kellogg took the loss for Montague. She threw six innings allowing 17 runs on 17 hits while walking one and striking out two.

Montague came up with 11 hits in the nightcap, with Hayden Boutell, Abby Thommen and Gabby Moreau all managing multiple hits. Moreau, Thommen and Boutell each collected two hits.
