MARION—The Mason County Eastern Cardinals swept the first WMD Jamboree in cross country this season on Wednesday afternoon at Marion.

In boys action the Cardinals finished with a team score of 27. They were followed by Pentwater and Bear Lake both with scores of 53.

Taking top honors with a time of 17:38.19 was senior Nate Wing from Mason County Eastern.

Mason Sinke from Bear Lake came in 2nd place while Abe VanDuinen from Pentwater finished in 3rd place.

Rounding out the top ten finishers were: Kaden Forward (Bear Lake-Onekama), Peter Hybza (MCE), Luke Niedzielski (MCE), Alex Tyndall (MCE), Henry Malburg (MCE), Clay Shoup (MCE) and Mitchel Daniels (Pentwater).

In girls action the Cardinals finished with a score of 32.

Brethren came in 2nd place with a team score of 60 while Bear Lake finished in 3rd place with 61 points and Pentwater came in 4th place with a team score of 71.

Taking top honors was junior Amelia Thompson from Big Rapids Crossroads Academy with a time of 21:50.41. Lucy Shoup and Lauren Niedzielski from Mason County Eastern finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Rounding out the field of top ten finishers were: Anna VanDuinen (Pentwater), Abby Kissling (Brethren), Olivia Wing (MCE), Natalie Brown (Bear Lake-Onekama), Jennifer Kmiecik (Bear Lake-Onekama), Jackie Cole (BRCC) and Natalie Myers (Brethren).
