RAVENNA – The Western Michigan Christian girls basketball team jumped out to a fast start against Ravenna on Monday and dominated the Bulldogs in a 59-23 win.

The game kicked off with the Warriors getting out a 22-2 scoring lead after the first quarter. The Warriors continued to cruise and pushed the lead to 33-8 by halftime.

Western Michigan Christian outscored Ravenna 26-15 in the second half.

“We came out ready to play tonight. The team looked for open shots,” said Warriors head coach Sarah Koetsier. 

“We played tough defense and handled Ravenna’s press well.”

Ashley Folkema had a solid night with a double-double including a game high 23 points and 12 rebounds for the Warriors. 

Maria Eenigenburg added eight rebounds and five assists while Kate Derdowski scored 10 points.

Emma Gillard led the Bulldogs with nine points on the evening.

Western Michigan Christian (7-5) will play host to Whitehall on Tuesday.

Ravenna (4-7, 2-4) is set to travel to Holton on Tuesday for a WMC-Rivers matchup.
