HOLLAND –The Spring Lake girls basketball team nearly rallied for an OK Conference-Blue victory on Friday evening.

The Lakers made a run in the second half, but fell to Holland Christian, 44-39.

The Lakers trailed 18-9 after the first quarter, but cut the deficit to six points by halftime. 

The defense locked in for the Lakers in the third quarter as they limited the Maroons to a single three-pointer. The Lakers snagged a 31-29 lead.

The lead changed hands multiple times in the fourth quarter, but the Lakers found themselves behind 39-37 with only a minute to play. 

The Maroons made five of six free throws in the closing minute to put away the game.

Alexa Carter had a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Ella Andree followed with 11 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Brooke Bolthouse chipped in five points and four assists.

Spring Lake (4-3, 1-2) will travel to Hudsonville Unity Christian on Tuesday in an OK Conference-Blue matchup.
