HOWARD CITY–The Kent City Eagles girls’ basketball team is on an eight-game winning streak after romping past the Howard City Tri-County Vikings on Friday, 69-18. 

The game was played in the Central State Activities Association.

The game was never in doubt as Kent City raced out to a 36-4 lead after the first quarter and led 54-5 at the half.

Neither team mustered much offense in the second half, which was played with a running clock. Kent City outscored Tri-County 15-13 in the second half.

Junior Maddie Geers led the Kent City with a game-high 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists.  Lexie Bowers tossed in 18 points, had seven steals, six assist and four rebounds.
 
Alyssa Miller tossed in 10 points and grabbed four rebounds. Lila Volkers chipped in with nine points, on three 3-pointers, while Savannah Miller had seven points. Hailey Kamphuis contributed five assists, four rebounds and two steals.
 
Allison Johnson led Tri-County with 12 points.
 
Kent City (9-2, 4-0) will travel to Grand Rapids Covenant Christian on Tuesday evening.
