SPRING LAKE — Spring Lake came out flying on Tuesday night on its home court.

The Lakers built a 32-15 halftime lead and went on to defeat Hudsonville Unity Christian, 53-42.

Despite the big first-half lead, the Lakers found themselves in a bit of a tussle in the third quarter. Unity cut the lead to six points on the strength of a trio of 3-pointers by Maleya Obande.

The Lakers regained their composure and pushed the lead back to double digits in the fourth quarter.

Spring Lake had a balanced attack, led by Ella Andree with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Tessa Britt had a breakout game for Coach Rich Hyde’s team with 12 points and eight rebounds. Brooke Bolthouse also reached double figures with 10 points. She also had three steals. Alexa Carter had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Maleya Obande finished with 22 points for the Crusaders.

Spring Lake (8-9, 4-7 OK-Blue) will head to Hamilton on Friday.
