PENTWATER — Pentwater struggled to cool off a hot-shooting Mesick boys basketball team in Friday night’s West Michigan D League game. The Falcons fell, 75-54, in its final home game of the season.

Mesick seemingly could not miss, scorching the nets to the tune of a 60 percent or higher accuracy rate.

It snapped a six-game winning streak for the Falcons.

The Falcons finished the game hitting a highly respectable 47 percent from two-point range and 27 percent from beyond the arc, but could not get a break on defense.

“We did what we could to defend and contain the Bulldogs,” said Pentwater coach Ashley Lubera. “Overall, the game was intense with great hustle from both teams.”

James Davis and Eli Powers played on the Pentwater court for the final time in their high school careers.

Mikey Carlson led the Falcons with a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Will Werkema-Grondsma added 12 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Trey Johnson contributed nine points, Kaleb Brown had six and four rebounds.

Pentwater (9-11, 9-7 WMD) plays at Mason County Eastern on Tuesday.
