Fruitport hangs on for 4-3 soccer victory over Allendale

FRUITPORT –The Fruitport girls soccer team opened the OK Conference-Blue season with a narrow victory against Allendale on Wednesday evening.

The Trojans went up 3-0 at the half and held off Allendale for the rest of the way to win, 4-3.

Mallory Smith led the way with two assists and a goal while Emerson VerMerris, Courtney Mayette and Alexa Hanson-Wilbur each added a goal. Mikayla Belasco also chipped in an assist.

Goalkeeper Riley Kettel made 10 saves in the net.

Fruitport will travel to Mona Shores on Saturday.
