KENT CITY — The host Kent City Eagles earned a split of a doubleheader with Lakeview on its home field on Tuesday.

The Eagles won the opener 8-5, but dropped the nightcap, 5-4.

In Game 1, sophomore Zach Flegel pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs. He struck out seven and was the winning pitcher.

Sophomore Derek Rodenburgh had three hits to pace Kent City. Troy Atwood added two hits while Webb Longcore drove in a pair of runs.

In the second game, Lakeview took the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead. Two of those runs were unearned.

Longcore and Rodenburg had two hits each for the Eagles. Rodenburg also drove in a pair of runs.
