GRAND RAPIDS — Kent City battled back in the nightcap and earned a softball doubleheader split with Forest Hills Eastern on Thursday.

The games were played at Cornerstone University.

In the opener, Forest Hills won, 3-1, while Kent City took the nightcap, 5-3.

In Game 1, Kent City could muster just three hits. Pitcher Jacee Hoffman allowed three earned runs on four hits in six innings of work. She had nine strikeouts and five walks.

The second game as much better all the way around for the Eagles. Jacee Hoffman pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run and struck out 11.

Laynee Hoffman had three hits while Jacee Hoffman had two hits, including a double, and Hannah Stellini had two hits. Abby Pecynski had one hit, but it was a triple. She finished the game with three RBI. Savannah Miller had two hits and two RBI.
