HUDSONVILLE –The Greater Muskegon co-op swimming team dropped three matches in a quad event at Hudsonville.

The Turtles finished 0-3 with losses to Unity Christian (134-50), Hamilton (114-71) and Hudsonville (140-45).

“The final score and results do not show you how hard the girls swam and dove against three very talented teams,” said Turtles head coach Mick Homan. “The score sheet does not show you the heart and pride they give everything they had in each event.”

Sydney Sytsema led the Turtles with a second-place finish in the 50 free (26.89) and a third-place finish in the 100 back (1:10.54).

The 200-medley relay team of Marilyn Gaston, Susie VanBaale, Eva Stout and Sytsema earned a fourth-place spot with a time of 2:05.73. VanBaale also took a third-place finish in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:19.41.

Hollen Emmick finished fourth in diving with 154.30 points.

“For us this swim meet was a good look to show us where we stand early in the season and where we can make improvements with some good consistent practices,” Homan said.

The Lady Turtles (1-3) will head to Grandville on Tuesday.
