HOLLAND – The Mona Shores Sailors edged the Reeths-Puffer Rockets by four strokes Wednesday in the second OK-Green golf jamboree of the season.

The event was played at Winding Creek Golf Course in Holland.

Mona Shores finished with 176, followed by Reeths-Puffer with 180, Zeeland East at 186 and Zeeland West with 191. Holland did not field a complete team.

Zeeland West’s Rylee Smith was the medalist with a nine-hole score of 36. Mona Shores Mayson Southland was second with a 38 and Reeths-Puffer’s Paige Anderson was third with a 39. Other local golfers in the Top 10 included Mona Shores’ Maddie Etterman, who was fifth with a 42, Reeths-Puffer teammates Rowan Bluhm and Sophia McCollum tied for seventh at 45, while Mona Shores’ Avery Nehra and Summer Darrow tied for ninth with a 48.

“Paige continues to impress,” said Rocket coach Matt Pallett. “Our conference is loaded with very good players at the top and Paige is one of them. She continues to be our leader and rock. She is averaging under 39 for nine holes this year. Rowan Bluhm and Sophia McCollum continue to get better and put good rounds together. They are both close to putting some great rounds together”.

Other Reeths-Puffer finishers included Olivia Ambler at 51, Abby Haak with a 55 and Avery Luna at 58. It was the Rockets’ best team score for nine holes in 2 years, according to Pallett.

Next Wednesday, the Sailors and Rockets will head to Lincoln Golf Club for another league jamboree.
