WYOMING–The Orchard View Cardinals rallied in the second half on Thursday evening to post a 28-26 road win over the Wyoming Godwin Heights Wolverines.

Orchard View had 260 yards in offense, all on the ground with Stephon Oakes leading the way with 70 yards on 11 carries while Enrique Gutierrez picked up 60 yards on only three rushing attempts.

Gutierrez put the Cardinals on the board in the first quarter on a 56-yard TD run to put Orchard View up 6-0. Later in the quarter, Alexander Theile found the end zone on a 2-yard run to put the Cardinals up 14-0. He also converted the 2-point conversion.

The Wolverines knotted the score at 14-14 with two touchdowns by the end of the first quarter.

Neither team found the end zone in the second quarter.

Godwin Heights took a 20-14 third-quarter lead on a 14-yard pass play before Mason Tuttle scored on a 3-yard run for Orchard View. The Cardinals converted the 2-point conversion to take a 22-20 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Orchard View added to its lead in the fourth quarter on a Justin Switzer 1-yard run for a 28-20 lead. Orchard View failed on the 2-point conversion.

Godwin Heights came within two points on a 52-yard touchdown pass play but couldn’t convert on the 2-point conversion.

Orchard View (2-0) will host Montague (1-1) next Friday in a West Michigan Conference-Lakes matchup.
